Gold & diamond guide

A few distinctions make a product page easier to understand.

Karat and carat

Karat (K) describes gold purity. Carat (ct) measures gemstone weight. They describe different properties; neither tells you the complete finished price.

Colour is not purity

Yellow, white and rose describe appearance or alloy colour. “Gold tone” describes a look and does not establish gold content. Use the actual item’s specifications and documentation to confirm its material.

Metal weight and total weight

Net metal weight excludes stones and other non-metal components. Gross weight covers the complete piece. A stone’s carat weight should be identified separately; check whether it describes one stone or a combined total.

Understanding a diamond description

Cut, colour, clarity and carat weight describe different characteristics. Shape describes the outline. A report should identify its issuer and the stone or item it covers; a general store badge is not an individual laboratory report.

Reading this catalogue

Pearl Oasis currently presents a demo catalogue. Names, prices and technical specifications are illustrative. The photography helps you explore the pieces; it does not independently verify the material or stone type.
